Philangethemba is a social outreach ministry of St Agnes Church to the Molweni Valley, serving the communities of Lower Molweni and Umgababa. Our offices, adjacent to Tholulwazi High School, were established in 2005 and we have built significant and credible relationships with community leaders, individuals and groupings in the community.

Funding for the ministry is provided by the Church and a separate Trust. The Philangethemba Trust (IT 2141/2004), is the vehicle used for fund raising and the administering project monies, while the Church provides the budget for running expenses.

A Church Portfolio Committee comprised of committed church members, the Social Outreach Elder, the Trust Chairman, the Manager/Pastor and the Youth Development Coordinator meets monthly for prayer, a meal and to discuss and agree on operational, outreach and project programmes. The Trust meets quarterly and the Trustees are a Church Warden, the Parish Treasurer and three leaders of the ministry in the valley.

The Trust and Church fund’s are administered by the Church Administrator and is subject to the Church governance structures. The Trust is a Tax Exempt Organisation and a registered Non Profit Organisation (061 819 NPO) and is able to issue certification for Section 18A Income Tax relief and for BBBEE Social Development points.

We actively seek to “be” the Gospel to the community and to help them find solutions to their many poverty related problems and thereby raise their level of Hope. Our outreach programs focus mainly on young people with the objective to provide:

HIV/AIDS Support

Income Generation
